How is the hair tested?

Your hair strand sample is tested at a molecular level for reactivity against 650-1350 different items. The reactivity of the molecules in your hair reflect physiological states within the body, including areas of stress and imbalance. Hair is an excellent tool to measure because it provides a long term snapshot of your health due to the longevity of the sample, rather than what is only currently going on like a blood sample shows. Not only am I able to analyse specific interactions that identify stress, imbalance or sensitivity across various organ systems and body pathways from your hair sample, but the proteins and trace minerals on and inside your hair shaft are assessed closely. Different body organs, hormones and functions have different effects on hair.

When I receive your hair strand sample, I send it to a specialised lab for the first part of the analysis. Your hair is processed using systems that capture and analyse these molecular signals from your hair and measure how they react against reference patterns associated with various foods, drinks, vitamins, minerals, environmental compounds, and biological systems. When your hair’s signal is exposed to these reference items, either resonance or disharmony in the molecules occur, indicating different levels of sensitivity or disruption in normal function.

When responses are detected, I am then alerted and can identify patterns that may correlate with imbalances. I then interpret these results for you in a report to provide insight on how your body is interacting with different stressors, supporting an individualised and holistic approach to your health.

Your report will have every single item listed that was tested (up to 1350 of them!), with its sensitivity level and my functional analysis. I then provide easy to understand overviews in reference to the personal health concerns you submitted when you first booked, and next steps towards optimal health.

Q | HOW IS SHIPPING ORGANISED?

A | You will not need to pay any shipping fees. You will receive a sample bag and instructions in the mail, along with a free returns label and courier bag. All you need to do is drop your packaged sample back to your local post shop, or book a door collection online for a courier to collect from your doorstep. Please allow standard delivery times to receive your sample collection in the mail, along with standard delivery times for the sample to get back to me. Time is then needed for your sample to be delivered to the lab for processing.

Q | WHY DO I HAVE TO BOOK A DAY AND TIME ON THE CALENDAR WHEN ORDERING THE HAIR STRAND TEST?

A | Due to also offering functional health consultations, our booking system runs on a calendar setup. When purchasing your Hair Strand Test, please select the next available appointment to proceed with your order. Rest assured, your order begins from the day you order and pay, not from the day you chose on the calendar. I disregard all calendar booking times for Hair Strand Test purchases.

Q | CAN I CANCEL MY PURCHASE?

A | Once you purchase a Hair Strand Test, we are unfortunately unable to cancel your order. This is because there are multiple factors that are organised to prepare and analyse your hair strand including organising your sample with the specialist lab, which begins from the moment you order. Your sample collection bag is also sent to your address soon after your order is received.

Q | HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO RECEIVE MY RESULTS?

A | Due to the extensiveness of a hair strand analysis and the many processes involved, please allow up to 4-6 weeks for the entire process, start to finish, to be completed. I will update you along the way.

Q | CAN I DO A HAIR STRAND TEST IF IM PREGNANT?

A | I recommend to wait before having a Hair Strand Test done if pregnant, as natural physiological changes that occur during pregnancy may impact result accuracy and limit the suitability of any recommended actions.

Q | CAN I DO A HAIR STRAND TEST IF I DYE/BLEACH MY HAIR?

A | Yes, this is fine! Just ensure your hair has been washed in the last 24 hours, is dry, and does not have any product on it when you take the sample.

Q | DO I HAVE TO CUT MY HAIR?

A | We only require 4-5 singular strands of hair for hair longer than an inch, or 8 to 10 strands if shorter than an inch. You can do this by plucking each hair individually from the scalp, or holding one individual hair strand at a time and cutting as close to the root as possible. If cutting, please do each strand of hair individually from different locations on the head to avoid a short patch. We do NOT need you to cut a chunk!
